On taking the myth out of military history

To encourage patriotic or religious feeling,
To create support for a dynasty or poltical regime,
Forgoing the murk for the sake of moral,
The moral danger of tampering with the truth,
It is, without meaning to be disparaging with the use of the term, ‘nursery history’ that we use of necessity to ‘break them in gently’.
To discover and record complicated and disagreable.
Youthful disillusion when the reality of historical events are realised to be less conclusive, or significant or glorious.
